FAQs

What is Save and Donate?

Save and Donate is an online shopping directory designed to help consumers save money whilst at the same time raise funds for their chosen worthwhile cause.

How does it work?

It's simple. Save and Donate get paid a referral fee from Retailers to increase traffic to their online stores. We then pass on this commission to the consumer and their nominated cause. (Please note that the commission is divided between the consumer and their nominated cause, with the % clearly displayed alongside each retailer in the directory.)

Can anyone join?

When an individual registers with Save and Donate they create an account with us. All Account Holders must be 16 years and over, have a valid email address and a U.K bank account.

Can my friends and family join Save and Donate?

Yes. However all accounts may only be used by the registered member. Why not use our 'Refer a Friend' function and invite them to join.

Ok! Sounds too good to be true. Does my shopping cost extra?

Not at all! In fact Save and Donate can negotiate exclusive discounts for our Account Holders therefore saving you even more money than if you shopped with the retailer direct. However you must be a registered member to avail of these exclusive discounts.

How much can I Save and Donate?

Each Retailer sets their own commission rates. Save and Donate have clearly indicated alongside each Retailer, how much commission is paid back to the consumer and how much is donated to your chosen cause. The terms and conditions also vary slightly amongst retailers with some only paying commission on the purchase price, excluding VAT, delivery etc. Some commissions vary depending on product type, however these are clearly stated within the 'Condition' section below each Retailer. All commissions are subject to a 50% split between Account holder and their nominated Cause.

Is cash back guaranteed?

Save and Donate guarantee 90% of the Cash Back earned, back to the consumer and their nominated cause. However in some circumstances, a Retailer may not pay us for every purchase. Don't panic though. We are always here to sort out any disputes you may have with a Retailer. Below is a list of possible reasons why a Retailer may not validate your Cash Back:-

  • The purchase was returned, cancelled or order amended.
  • The purchase was not completed online. For example, insurance. Perhaps you entered the insurance company site via our links with the intention to purchase insurance, however you did not complete the sale via the website, i.e. you completed the order over the phone.
  • Another referrer has been awarded the Cash Back, i.e. a price comparison site
  • You did not comply with the terms and conditions of Save and Donate and/or the Retailer.
  • You used a voucher code not authorised by Save and Donate.
  • The Retailer has ceased trading or gone into administration.
How can I reduce the risk of Cash Back being declined?

Clear cookies from your browser's security settings.

Click on "Go to Sore".

Make your purchase on the Retailer's site.

Sit back and bathe in the knowledge that you have just saved yourself money and raised much needed funds for your chosen cause..

Is Cash Back paid on the full amount of my purchase?

Each Retailer is different. Unless otherwise stated, Cash Back is only paid on the purchase price, excluding VAT, delivery and any charges made by the Retailer for credit card payments, etc.

MEMBERSHIP AND ACCOUNT

How much does it cost?

There is no joining fee, however Save and Donate retain 10% of your savings form each purchase, therefore allowing us to continue to offer this service.  We then pass on 90% commission earned on your purchases back to you the consumer and your nominated cause. The 10% fee is deducted from your cashback at source and we will never ask you for personal payment. The fee only applies if cash back is earned - no fee is charged if no cash back has been generated.

What is the 10% admin fee for?

Save and Donate retain 10% of your cashback to allow us to continue to seek out and offer you the best cash back offers and voucher codes available. It is important to us that we do everything we can to bring you savings at the retailers that you want to shop with to ensure that you maximise your savings- and your donations!  We then pass on 90% of the commission earned on your purchases back to you the consumer and your nominated cause.

How long does the Cash Back process take?

The completion of the Cash Back process varies with each Retailer. However below is an indication of how long the process takes. Please do bear in mind that despite how long the process may take, you are earning money back that you would have otherwise given to the Retailer if you had continued to purchase from them directly and not via our  Save and Donate website..

Tracked - 0-3 days

Validated - up to 120 days

Declined - up to 120 days

Received - up to 120 days from validation

Paid - when the minimum threshold has been reached (£25) and sufficient funds are available to be withdrawn.

How can I monitor the progress of my purchases?

All of the relevant information can be found in your 'My Account' settings.

My purchase isn't showing as tracked. What can I do?

Don't panic. We will investigate this on your behalf. Please  contact us and  we will contact the Retailer on your behalf.

When can I request my Cash Back?

You can request payout only if your current account balance more than £15.00

Why can I not withdraw my Cash Back?

If your current account balance is less than £15.00 .

How can I track my query?

Through the 'Support' section in your Account options

What do the different types of status mean in my Cash Back Account?

Available Balance - the amount of cash that can be withdrawn from your account

Pending Cashback - awaiting confirmation from the retailer

Declined Cashback - retailer has not authorised the cash back

Cash Out Requested - the amount of money you have requested from your account

Cash Out Processed - amount transferred to your personal account

Lifetime Cashback - the amount of money you have earned back via our service over the lifetime of your account

My Cash Back has been declined, what can I do?

The Retailer has the final decision as to whether or not they pay the  Cash Back to the consumer. If they have provided a valid reason for the decline then unfortunately we cannot proceed any further with the investigation.

CASH BACK VALIDATION PERIODS

What is a validation period?

This is the time the Retailer needs in order to confirm that they are happy to pay Cash Back for your purchase. This involves making sure the goods haven't been returned, or insurance policies cancelled etc.

How long is the validation period?

The validation period varies amongst Retailers and may depend on the type of purchase. However as an indication, purchases are generally tracked within 1-3 days and then updated to validated status within 1-3 months. This will now become you available balance.

EXCEPTIONS:-

TRAVEL/HOTEL BOOKINGS

The validation process for such a purchase tends to not begin until after the holiday/hotel break has already taken place. Do not panic if the purchase validates at £0 as it will refresh once the validation process is complete.

INSURANCE /FINANCE PRODUCTS

Due to the substantial Cash Back on offer from these purchases there is a tendency for the system to be abused and fraudulent activity to occur, therefore to limit any potential abuse it is normal to expect up to 4 months for the completion of the validation process.

WHAT ABOUT DONATIONS?

How much of the Donation goes to my nominated cause?

The % Donation shown alongside each Retailer goes to the nominated cause. Again this is % of the consumers total spend and will be transferred to the cause at a time agreed with the cause by Save and Donate.

How long does the Donation take to be confirmed?

The Donation confirmation period completes at the same time as Cash  Back. Again this process depends on each individual Retailer.

Can I change my nominated cause?

Yes, please contact us.

Can anyone register a cause?

Yes, however please refer to our Term's and Conditions for full details.

How do we register?

Please click on 'Register cause' on our Home page. From here you may request an application form, or alternatively email us  at info@saveanddonate.org.uk

Is there a minimum threshold amount before Donations can be released to the nominated cause?

There is no minimum threshold amount before Donations can be released. These terms are to be confirmed with the cause based on their needs, however it tends to be on a monthly basis.

I have registered a worthwhile cause. Do all supporters associated with this cause have to register or do they all sign in under one account?

All supporters associated with each cause must create a new account. This is to ensure all transactions can be tracked and validated on their own merits, and Cash Back paid to each individual consumer. Please refer to our Term's and Conditions for further details.
